For the 2018 model year, the 4-Series by BMW offers a range of tweaks. All models of the line now come with standard bi-LED headlights. There are two exterior colors to choose from, either yellow or dark blue, and interior accents color-matching the body paint. The unique colors are complemented with black exterior trim. The 30 Jahre edition convertible rolls on 20-inch wheels painted in edition-specific Orbit Grey color.

Two engine options are offered for the 2018 BMW 4-Series. The 430i uses a turbocharged 2.0L I4 rated at 248 hp and the 440i employs a 3.0 L I6 capable of 320 hp. Both power units can be mated to an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual. The suspension was revised in order to improve handling capabilities. It is stiffer now on all models and utilizes an advanced damping technology. Steering setup was upgraded too. The 4-Series now delivers greater stability, reduced roll and improvements in longitudinal and lateral handling properties. Besides, convertible versions now provide excellent steering characteristics along with straight-line stability. The 2018 BMW 4-Series has a wider track (both front and rear) and lower center of gravity than the 3-Series and specially configured kinematics delivering more agile handling.

The new 4-Series offers new colors both inside and out – there are two new exterior colors and three new colors of Dakota leather inside. A virtual instrument cluster with a layout that changes according to a selected drive mode is offered with an Executive package. Models fitted with an optional navigation system feature a revised iDrive logic with 6 tiles sorting system functions, 3 on each (main and secondary) screen.
