Unveiled at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, the 2018 Lexus NX underwent a mid-cycle update. Most of the changes were made to the exterior, giving this luxury crossover a sportier, more aggressive look. Its massive spindle grille remains, slightly modified to better blend into the front end appearance together with a reworked bumper and fenders. The rear fascia received thinner tail lights, bigger chrome-accented exhaust tips, a remodeled rear bumper, and a new spoiler. Those who want extra refinement can get their hands on an F-Sport package, which boasts a black mesh grille and specific wheels. While visual changes are noticeable, one could hardly tell the latest NX apart from the previous model from the inside. Subtle changes include a larger center display that now measures 10.3 inches instead of the previous 7.0-inch screen, buttons and knobs accented in a metallic satin finish, and a redesigned climate control panel that received simpler, easier-to-operate controls.

The powertrain remains untouched, offering, as usual, two engine options. The base model, now named the NX300 (previously known as the NX 200t), retains a 2.0L turbocharged I4. A hybrid version, the NX 300h, has the same 2.5-liter four-banger teamed with electric motors. Power is routed through a 6-speed automatic to either front or all four wheels. The 2018 Lexus NX sports better handling thanks to retuned suspension parts (springs, anti-roll bars, and bushings). A modified variant of Lexus' Adaptive Variable Suspension borrowed from the LC 500 is there as well.

The 2018 NX takes safety to the new level by offering the Lexus Safety System + as standard. This package of electronic driver aid technologies includes autonomous emergency braking, collision / lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control systems. The Automatic High Beam that provides better illumination when needed is also at the driver's disposal.
