For the second year of its production run, the Maserati Levante brought a number of updates and a special-edition version. Named the Nerissimo, the new version features a total black color theme emphasizing extreme sportiness and elegance of the vehicle. The exterior features a deep black paint complemented by a contrasting black chrome trim on certain elements, such as the Trident, trunk, upper part of the grille frame, and side air vents. Besides, door handles, grille bars, window trim, and exhaust tips feature a distinctive black finish. For 2018, the lineup of the 2018 Maserati Levante was widened – two new trim levels, GranLusso and GranSport, were added to three existing ones. The GranSport grade is intended to emphasize the racing heritage of the Italian automaker. It comes with skid plates, body-colored side skirts, Black Piano grille, 20” wheels, special badges on the front wings, roof rails, red brake calipers, and blue inserts on Saetta and Trident logos. The GranLusso trim level offers front skid plates, body-colored side skirts, 19” alloy wheels, roof rails with metallic finish, black brake calipers, and special badging on the front wings. The U.S. version of the 2018 Maserati Levante utilizes a 3.0 L twin-turbo V6 engine. The base variant delivers 345 hp, while higher grades come with a 424-hp version. A turbocharged 3.0 L diesel V6 good for 275 hp is also available on certain markets. AWD and 8-speed automatic are standard for the SUV.

The new Levante comes with an electric power steering system instead of a hydraulic one. It offers a range of benefits, such as better support of driving modes and improved comfort and handling, and enables new ADAS functions.
