Built as part of Ford's 100th anniversary celebration, the GT is a two-seater sports car that is all about aerodynamics and pure performance. This supercar recalls the automaker’s legendary GT40, a four-time winner of the Le Mans (1966-1969). The GT40 wore the Gulf Oil livery that is now known as the coolest and most beloved paint scheme for a race car. This year, Ford celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1968 GT40’s win by releasing the new GT Heritage Edition. 2019 Ford GT parts and accessories are perfectly united to provide the most exciting driving performance coupled with the most famous look. In addition to bringing the legendary paint scheme to the GT, the automaker also offers some additional exclusive features.
For the first time since the supercar hit the market in 2017, the Heritage Edition is offered with an optional package, which provides both exterior and interior with exposed carbon fiber elements. Each GT Heritage Edition also boasts orange brake calipers that perfectly suit the blue and orange paint scheme. The special edition supercar is also blessed with exposed carbon fiber A-pillar, and that is a completely modern touch as carbon fiber wasn’t available 50 years ago. It rides on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels that feature a high-gloss dark stainless steel finish. Black lug nuts perfectly complete the look. That package also brings the twin-turbocharged supercar silver mirror caps and the No.9 decals on the hood and doors. Ford introduced another special edition of the model, the GT Carbon Series. It is a track-oriented model which is about 40 pounds lighter than its regular version thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber components on the wheels with titanium lug nuts, door sills, body panels, center console, and vent pods. A rear hatch is made of polycarbonate. The limited edition is available with red, blue, orange or silver color accents on the center stripe, mirror caps, and brake calipers. Inside, the seats feature fine upholstery with exclusive pattern and silver contrasting stitching which can also be seen on the steering wheel.
The GT is a track-focused car, which means every possible effort is made to reduce weight. That is true for the interior, which is pretty basic in the 'regular' version, with no carpeting, plain creature comforts and infotainment controls, and the absence of luxuries. There are functional necessities like carbon fiber racing seats and an F1-like steering wheel. Although, inside the special edition sports car, there are exclusive materials, colors, and appointments which underline its uniqueness. All 2019 Ford GT accessories and parts create a vintage interior design. The steering wheel, headliner, instrument panel, seats, and pillars are all covered in Ebony Alcantara. The steering wheel and seats feature blue and orange stitching that not only continues the exterior theme inside the cabin but also provides a colorful contrast to the mainly black interior. All 2019 Ford GT accessories and parts of the interior are designed with professional attention to the tiniest detail proving that nothing is too small for the supercar wearing an iconic livery. Thus, the paddle shifters are anodized, while the instrument panel, x-brace, and door bezels are all in a high-gloss dark stainless steel finish. The center console, air vents, and door sills are trimmed in carbon fiber.
The 2019 Ford GT retains its mid-engine layout and super-lightweight construction with a carbon fiber tub and body panels. The sports car is motivated by a 3.5 L twin-turbo V-6 engine that provides impressive performance with 647 HP and peak torque of 550 lb-ft, springing from 0 to 60mph in about three seconds. This power is sent to the rear via a 7-speed dual-clutch rear transaxle. There are five driving modes, with the V-Max needed for the car to attain its max speed of 217 mph. The suspension design with longitudinally mounted dampers is tuned for endurance racing.
