The iX3 is powered by a single rear-mounted 281-hp electric motor. Rear-wheel-drive is the only layout, despite the X-series name would imply the availability of AWD. A run to 62 mph is complete in 6.8 seconds, while speed tops out at 112 mph. BMW is proud of the design of their fifth-gen eDrive powertrain used in the iX3, which integrates the electric motor, transmission, and 400V electronics in one housing to reduce weight and the space used. DC fast charging at 150 kW replenishes the battery to 80% in 34 minutes, and already after 10 minutes of charging, about 60 miles of range become available. The BMW iX3 features a well-balanced chassis and adaptive dampers that do a good job smoothing out road irregularities and providing a lot of traction.

Externally, the iX3 isn't much different from its X3 sibling.
