The Alfa Romeo 2600 (Type 106) was the flagship of the Italian company in the 1960s. Unveiled to the world in 1961, it became the first post-war model by Alfa Romeo equipped with a DOHC inline-six engine, although such an engine configuration was traditional for the earlier company's models launched in the 1920s and 30s. The 2.6-liter motor of the 2600 was mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There were three body styles, the sedan, coupe, and convertible; also, the carmaker launched two special editions, the 2600 SZ (Sprint Zagato) and even more rare 2600 De Luxe in 1965. The production of the 2600 model took place in both Italy and South Africa.
