The Jeep DJ is a rear-wheel drive version of the famous CJ. The production of this 3-door truck began in 1955 and lasted for almost 30 years – until 1984. Originally, the Jeep DJ was based on the older version of the CJ, named the CJ-3A, employing the same motor – a 2.2 L straight-4 unit capable of 55 hp. However, the DJ featured the other 3-speed Borg-Warner T-96 manual gearbox with a floor shift or column shift. The list of body styles included a van, hardtop, and soft top. In 1965 another version of the model came – a right-hand drive one, also based on the CJ of the time. In 1967, the next Jeep DJ debuted, featuring a larger engine (a 2.5 L Chevy Nova straight-4) and a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission.
