Lund International was started in 1965 in Anoka, Minnesota with an ambitious mission: to lead the industry in meeting customer needs for automotive accessories. Lund is now one of the world’s leading automotive accessories providers, with their global headquarters in a 219,000 sq. ft. facility in Buford, Georgia. There the company designs and manufactures functional, high-performance, protective and stylish accessories, and markets them under the Lund, AVS, and BELMOR brands. From ventvisors/side window deflectors, hood shields/hood protectors, running boards/tube steps, to tonneaus, tool boxes and premium floor coverings, Lund products provide outstanding value with industry leading warranties.
Lund’s first truck accessory, created in 1974, was a SunVisor that attached to the cab of a truck or van. This was soon followed by a cab spoiler. By the late 1970s, as light truck sales increased, Lund began producing appearance accessories for light trucks. Product offerings expanded to 20 product lines, including bug shields, fender extensions, and grille inserts. At this time one of the company’s fastest growing lines was running boards, mainly because women, who were driving trucks in greater numbers, found them helpful for getting in and out of the cab.
In 1997 Lund merged with the Deflecta-Shield Corporation, of Indianola, Iowa. Today, that company’s excellent line of products, including storage boxes, bed protection products, and running boards, are marketed under the Lund brand. Also in 1997, Lund acquired BELMOR, a manufacturer of specialty accessories for the heavy-duty trucking industry.
Lund International acquired the Auto Ventshade Company (AVS) in 1998. AVS is the innovator of the auto Ventshade, first produced in 1935 to mount above a car window to keep rain out and let fresh air in. Today Lund manufactures modern versions of the Ventshade; the Ventvisors, along with bug shields/hood protectors, light covers, and chrome appearance accessories, and markets them under the AVS brand.
In their continuing efforts to diversify their line of automotive accessories, Lund acquired Nifty Products in 2002. Today Lund offers the Nifty Catch-All and Catch-It all weather floor protectors, Cargo-Logic mats, and Pro-line replacement carpet under the Lund brand.
